Soteria Independent Living is a highly experienced accommodation provider dedicated to ensuring our team of committed Mental Health Support Workers provide the highest quality of care to our clients residing in our Supported Independent Living Homes. We are a locally owned organisation who specialize in and aspire to improving the quality of life of people living with all levels of disability by allowing them to strive towards their dreams and goals of independent living while we provide quality homes and trained staff for people to choose.
We are progressively expanding our services and as such we are looking for passionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team as contractors and assist us with our goal of lifting the standards of care provided in the community. We have several Contractor positions available at one of our houses in Avoca NSW 2577 with 8-10 hours shifts! There are established teams of staff presently supporting these homes and the backing of a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians.
There is a high demand for MALE support workers within the industry.
Responsibilities and Duties
The role will encompass responsibilities related to:
Supporting clients to regulate their emotions
Supporting clients with personal care and mealtime support as required
Providing active support for clients assisting them to develop their general living skills
Providing support to access the community and recreation programs
Providing general supervision and general administration tasks
About you:
Flexible from Monday - Sunday
Experience in Manual Handling Transfers, Personal Care, Medication and Meal Preparations
Ideally, you will be passionate about helping people in the Mental Health area and making a positive impact in the community. You will need strong communication skills and experience in applying effective ways of teaching people to increase their social living skills.
Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role you must have:
Minimum Certificate III in Disability Support or relevant industry qualification
Minimum of 1 year experience working with people with High/ challenging behaviours
Experience working with clients with mental illness/intellectual disability will be highly regarded
A current National Police Clearance Certificate
A current First Aid Certificate
NDIS worker screening check
Eligible working rights in Australia
Current driver’s license and a fully insured and reliable motor vehicle
Basic Microsoft office skills
